International Music Performance Exam Certification

The International Music Performance Exam Certification offers piano exams that provide a structured approach for students to demonstrate their musical proficiency. Students prepare a set of songs tailored to their skill level, aligning with our comprehensive syllabus. These performances are then evaluated by our team of fully qualified adjudicators. Each student receives a detailed report that highlights their strengths and identifies areas for improvement, alongside a performance grade and certification.

We offer two convenient examination formats to accommodate the diverse needs of our students: Live In-Person and Online Video Submission.

Live In-Person Examination

Our Live In-Person examination provides a traditional, immersive experience for students to showcase their talents in a professional setting. This event spans four days, offering multiple opportunities for students to participate.

Registration Process: To register for the Live In-Person exam, students must complete the online application, submit the required fees, and enter their repertoire by the registration deadline.

Scheduling and Attendance: Approximately two weeks before the live event, each student’s specific examination date and time will be posted to their secure online portal. On the day of their exam, students should arrive at the venue at least 15 minutes prior to their scheduled time and check in with the event staff.

Results and Certification: Once the live examination is complete, the student’s detailed report and official certificate will be made available through their online portal within 72 hours.

Online Video Submission Examination

The Online Video Submission option offers a flexible and convenient way for students to undergo evaluation from the comfort of their own environment. This format operates on a rolling enrollment basis, allowing students to submit their performances at their convenience.

Registration Process: To register for the Online Video Submission exam, students need to complete the application and pay the associated fees.

Submission and Evaluation: After registration, students must upload their repertoire information and all required video links to their online portal. Once all materials are submitted, their video performance will be sent directly to our judges for evaluation.

Results and Certification: Students can expect their detailed report and certificate to be posted to their online portal within approximately two weeks of their submission.

Tips for Recording Your Online Video Submission

To ensure a smooth and timely evaluation of your performance, please follow these guidelines when recording and submitting your video:

  • Optimal Camera Angle: For adjudicators to properly assess your technique, it’s crucial to clearly see your hands and feet (for piano pedals). A side view will generally provide the best angle.
  • Elevated Camera Position: The camera should be positioned relatively high up and pointed slightly downwards. This angle allows all your fingers to be clearly distinguished.
  • Stable Camera Setup: Whether you’re using a laptop, tablet, or phone, a stand or tripod is essential to achieve the recommended elevated and stable camera angle. These are readily available from various online retailers at reasonable prices.

YouTube Submissions (Recommended):

  • Providing YouTube links is the fastest way to get your reports and certificates delivered.
  • Crucially, set your YouTube video’s privacy to “Unlisted.” This allows anyone with the link to view your video, including our adjudicators, but it will not appear in public search results or recommendations.
  • DO NOT set your video to “Private.” If your video is private, our adjudicators will not be able to view it, which will delay the processing of your report and certificate.

WeTransfer Submissions (Alternative Option):

  • If you prefer not to use YouTube, you can upload your video to our WeTransfer site: https://iapmt.wetransfer.com.
  • When using WeTransfer, please utilize the “Get a link” feature and paste that link into your application.
  • Ensure you set the expiration of your upload to at least 1 month.
  • Failure to follow these steps (using “get a link” and setting a sufficient expiration) will delay the processing of your report and certificate.
